Torino fire Juve warning
Torino coach Walter Novellino has warned arch-rivals Juventus not to underestimate them in the Derby della Mole.
“Juve say they are here to win? Well we say exactly the same thing,” smiled the Granata boss. “We respect them, but we have no fear.“Everybody wants a victory, both for the points and the pride of the city. At this moment in time Toro are in good shape and we will stand up to anybody. I see my team concentrated and relaxed.
“I don’t need to fire up my troops, as they are well aware of the importance of this game and the level of the opposition. They know it’s a different match from any other.”
Paolo Zanetti and Nicola Legrottaglie miss the game on a ban, while Elvis Abbruscato is Toro’s only injury.
Juventus, on the other hand, are missing Cristiano Zanetti, Paolo De Ceglie, Mauro Camoranesi and Zdenek Grygera.
“The defence is reinforced by the return to fitness of Jonathan Zebina and Hasan Salihamidzic. Upfront David Trezeguet is a real fox in the box and Alessandro Del Piero can create something out of nothing. We have to keep an eye on all of them, regardless of [Claudio] Ranieri’s choices.”
Inter Coach Jose Mourinho hit the headlines this week when he suggested the refereeing favours for Juventus were being played down by the media compared to errors that boosted his own team.
“What he said was just trying to provoke a reaction,” commented Novellino. “He is a good man and a great Coach, just like Ranieri. I judge on what I see, not what I hear.”
The referee assigned to the Turin derby is Stefano Farina, who has been praised by both parties.
“I am very happy with his presence, it is a perfect choice. He is a talented referee with great experience and charisma.”
