Milan following Mandanda

Milan following Mandanda

AC Milan are keeping tabs on Marseille's first choice goalkeeper Steve Mandanda to solve their goalkeeping woes.

According to France Football, the 24-year-old has caught Milan's eye after helping Marseille overtake Lyon and build a five-point lead at the top of Ligue 1.

Mandanda is widely regarded as one of the top young goalkeepers in the world and made his debut for France against Austria on September 6 2008.

Milan have had serious problems between the sticks ever since Dida lost his confidence 18 months ago.

They reluctantly trusted _eljko Kalac last season, but decided to bring Christian Abbiati back from a loan spell at Atletico Madrid last summer.

Abbiati looked to have ended Milan's troubles in goal, but suffered knee ligament damage against Siena on March 15 and is out for six months at the very least.

Dida has since reclaimed his place between the sticks, however, Milan would like more security on the last line of their defence.

Mandanda is also the subject of interest from Spanish giants Barcelona and German champions Bayern Munich.

He has a contract with Marseille until 2012 and is believed to be worth around £7m, however, his price could rise if L'OM win Ligue 1 this season.
