Napoli: We can't force Hamsik to stay

Napoli have said they are not able to prevent in-demand midfielder Marek Hamsik from leaving at the end of the season.

The 21-year-old Slovakia international has been monitored by Inter Milan, Juventus and other top European clubs.

"Our idea is always the same, we want to keep Marek," director of sport Pierpaolo Marino told Tuttosport. "But players have the possibility of arriving at the end of their contract and using article 17, so their point of view is important."

Hamsik has been a consistent performer in Napoli's indifferent season, scoring nine goals in 28 appearances.

Many view him, along with Argentina striker Ezequiel Lavezzi, as one of the Partenopei's indispensable players.

Earlier this week, Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis said he has no intention of selling either player.
