Catania vs AC Milan Preview
AC Milan defender Marek Jankulovski has reminded his team-mates of what is at stake for the club in the title run-in.
A run of four wins on the trot has lifted the Rossoneri to second in the standings and within touching distance of a place in the Champions League.
With five matches remaining, it seems unlikely they will be able to catch leaders and bitter rivals Inter Milan, who have a seven-point advantage.
But Jankulovski is aware there are still points to play for, starting with the visit to Catania tomorrow.
"We have important objectives," said the Czech left-back.
"In the five remaining games we have to stay careful and compact.
"We have to get as many points as possible to finish the season well.
"At Catania it will be tough, but the other games will also be difficult. We know if we play a good match at Catania and get a good result, we will take a big step forward to be more sure of finishing second or third, which for us is vital."
Jankulovski, who will return from suspension tomorrow, also fears the threat from Juventus with the Turin club just two points below them in the table.
"At the moment we have to be very careful and watch out for the teams below us, because our objective is to finish at least third and perhaps second," he continued.
"Then we can dream, but Inter have their destiny completely in their own hands.
"Catania are a good team who play well at home, it's not easy to play on their pitch, we will find a very heated environment.
"Even though it will be tough, we have to play our game. Milan have shown they're in a good shape in recent matches and we have to continue like this."
Striker Kaka admits the team do still have one eye on Inter above them as they look to deny their city rivals a fourth successive championship.
"Until we are mathematically out of it, we have to believe," said the Brazilian.
"But it doesn't only depend on us.
"However, we'll think about doing our bit which is winning all our remaining games."
Gennaro Gattuso and Alexandre Pato are back in training and could feature this weekend, but Marco Borriello, Alessandro Nesta, Kakha Kaladze, Daniele Bonera, Christian Abbiati and Luca Antonini are all expected to miss out for the visitors.
Mathieu Flamini is also suspended.
Catania lie 14th and are almost safe from the drop with the team sitting on 40 points.
A 2-1 defeat to Lecce last weekend did not do them any favours though, a result which marked their third loss in four league fixtures.
Events in that match will have a knock-on effect on tomorrow's clash with coach Walter Zenga forced to watch proceedings from the stands after he was banished from the dug-out against Lecce.
Fabio Sciacca was also sent off in the dying minutes and is suspended against Milan.
Giacomo Tedesco and Pablo Ledesma will be missing through injury.
