Mourinho confirms Milito deal

Diego Milito is set to become Inter Milan’s first signing of the summer after Jose Mourinho revealed talks are almost complete.

Club captain Javier Zanetti has also admitted that Inter have high expectations of the striker for the next campaign.

"Now we can say it: Inter are very close to signing Milito from Genoa," Mourinho told reporters after Inter's win over Siena. "Then we will buy a few midfielders and a defender, considering that we will bring 2-3 Primavera players into the first team."

Massimo Moratti is adamant that he will not splurge to strengthen the Nerazzurri and that they will need to sell some players.

"We will certainly reinforce the team, but first of all we will have to sell in order to have a balanced transfer campaign," he is quoted as saying on FcInterNews. "We will have to identify our transfer targets and then try to capture them. I have been reading that we have already signed Milito, but this is not the time to spend crazy money."

Moratti revealed his interest for Udinese striker Fabio Quagliarella while admitting his is not sure about Zlatan Ibrahimovic's future.

"I hold Quagliarella in high esteem," admitted Moratti. "And I admire ‘Ibra' as a player and as a man because he is a true professional."

"I think he will stay put. I hope he wants to remain because we have big plans."

Whispers linking Milito with a move to the San Siro have persisted throughout the morning, increasing in strength with comments made by countryman Zanetti to Tuttosport.

"We are expecting a great season from Milito because he can score plenty of goals. I am happy that he is arriving," the Inter captain is quoted as saying, explicitly suggesting that Milito will join the Milan outfit in the summer.
