Silvio Berlusconi has praised Inter Milan for the great job they have done in winning their fourth straight Scudetto.

Jose Mourinho and his Inter squad were crowned champions over the weekend.

"My compliments to Inter. They have held high the name of Milan, but we did not play well," he claimed at a political dinner function in the city, according to ANSA. "I hope Milan will show their class and finish in second place."

The Italian Prime Minister then complimented both Milan clubs, saying their finish to the season was a testament to Milan's domination of Italian football.

Berlusconi has seen his side endure a trophyless season, after being eliminated in the early rounds of the UEFA Cup and Coppa Italia. In the immediate future he will be dealing with the situation regarding coach Carlo Ancelotti who has been heavily linked with Chelsea and Real Madrid.
