Real make move for Mourinho

Real Madrid have given Inter Coach Jose Mourinho a week to decide whether he wants to move to the Bernabeu, according to the Italian press.

After Arsene Wenger ruled himself out of the Real hot-seat earlier this week Florentino Perez has now reportedly turned his attention to the 'Special One'.

After winning league titles in both Portugal and England, Mourinho is coming to the end of his first year in charge of the Nerazzurri in which he won the Scudetto with three games to spare.

The Portuguese has a contract until 2011, but the existence of a clause could allow him to leave Inter and move to Spain.

Mourinho is said to be able to free himself for around £6m at anytime after his first season at the club - although his departure would be a surprise given his recent pledge to Inter President Massimo Moratti that he would remain with the Milan outfit.

"I will stay at Inter 100 per cent," the former Chelsea tactician said. "At least until Moratti wants to send me away."

Perez would like a decision in the next seven-days so he can announce Mourinho's interest before the Real presidential election, which he is standing in on June 14.

The Spanish businessman is famous for ushering in the galacticos era at Real during his first stint as President between 2000 and 2006.

If Mourinho declines the oportunity to join Los Blancos then Perez will turn his attention to Milan's Carlo Ancelotti, Villarreal's Manuel Pellegrino and Bordeaux's Laurent Blanc.
