Juventus close in on Diego
Werder Bremen midfielder Diego is set to complete his switch to Serie A giants Juventus this week.
The Brazilian playmaker, who is under contract with the German outfit until June 2011, has long been tipped for a move to the Serie A giants as a replacement for Pavel Nedved, who retires at the end of the season.
A fee of around 25 million euros has already been agreed between the two clubs and the 24-year-old had a medical in Turin Monday.
"The transfer of Werder midfielder Diego to Italian top-flight side Juventus is soon to be complete," read a statement on the Bundesliga club's website, www.werder.de.
"The Brazilian was in northern Italy on Monday for a medical check-up with the Serie A club.
"Werder managers Klaus Allofs and Manfred Muller also flew to Turin early Monday afternoon to clarify the final remaining questions about the transfer and reach an agreement with Juventus.
"We are confident that we can complete the transfer," said Allofs.
Reports in Italy suggest Diego is set to pen a five-year deal at the Stadio Olimpico and will be officially unveiled at a press conference Tuesday.
