Ancelotti kicks off summer of change
As many as 10 coaches face and uncertain future following the conclusion of the Serie A season.
All eyes are currently on AC Milan with Carlo Ancelotti confirming this afternoon he will leave the club this summer after eight years in charge, and Leonardo stepping in as his replacement.
Ancelotti, the longest-serving manager in Italy's top flight, was under contract for a further year with the Rossoneri and is set to join Chelsea.
"In agreement with the club, we have decided to anticipate the end of my contract which runs until 2010," said Ancelotti.
AC Milan, who finished for a second straight season without silverware, beat Fiorentina 2-0 this afternoon to finish third and claim direct qualification for next season's Champions League group stage.
Juventus won 2-0 against Lazio but despite having led the club to two consecutive victories since replacing the sacked Claudio Ranieri earlier this month, Ciro Ferrara may not guide the Turin giants next season.
Antonio Conte, who has led Bari to promotion to Serie A this season, is considered the main candidate to manage the Bianconeri next term.
Uncertainty reigns in the Eternal City with the two Roman clubs still to confirm whether Luciano Spalletti and Delio Rossi will continue to guide Roma and Lazio respectively.
Spalletti has been a reported target of Juve while Rossi has been linked with the vacant job at Atalanta.
Sunday's 4-3 defeat at Inter Milan marked Luigi Del Neri's last game in charge of Atalanta.
Del Neri successfully led the Bergamaschi to safety for a second straight season but turned down a contract extension.
Away from the mainland, Palermo and Catania fans are coming to terms with the news that their coaches will depart this summer.
Palermo's Davide Ballardini announced ahead of today's game against Sampdoria, which ended 2-2, that it would be his last match in charge of the Rossaneri.
Walter Zenga had already confirmed his decision to leave the other Sicilian outfit, who lost 3-1 at Bologna this afternoon.
Sampdoria have yet to give coach Walter Mazzarri a vote of confidence.
The Blucerchiati missed out on a place in Europe next term after losing to Lazio in the Coppa Italia final and finishing a disappointing 13th in the standings.
Siena's Marco Giampaolo, whose side were held to a 1-1 draw by Reggina today, has requested the Tuscan outfit give him more time to consider his future.
Reggina went into the final round of games already relegated after a dismal campaign.
The Amaranto club are already planning next season's campaign without coach Nevio Orlandi.
