Mazzarri confirms Samp exit
Walter Mazzarri, coach of Serie A side Sampdoria, has revealed he is to leave the club by "mutual consent".
Mazzarri's team have had a disappointing season and missed out on a place in Europe next term after losing to Lazio in the Coppa Italia final and finishing a poor 13th in the standings.
Following today's final day draw at Palermo, the 47-year-old confirmed he and the club have decided to part ways.
"Tomorrow the club will announce that our paths will separate," he told Stadio Sprint. "We took this decision by mutual consent.
"I thank the fans for the affection they have always shown me."
Mazzarri has been in charge at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris since 2007 and guided Sampdoria to sixth place and a place in the UEFA Cup in his first season.
The former Reggina coach has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Davide Ballardini, who looks likely to leave Palermo, a move he admits he would be interested it.
"I would like that a lot," he said. "I like Sicily.
"However, I will think about my future from tomorrow."
