Mazzarri keen on move to Spain

Former Sampdoria boss Walter Mazzarri has told reporters that he would love to coach in Spain if the opportunity came up.

Mazzarri and Sampdoria parted ways after an inconsistent season which saw the club finish a lowly 13th in Serie A but battle their way to the Coppa Italia final, where they lost to Lazio on penalties.

This wasn't enough to convince Mazzarri to remain at the Genoa based club - and the 47-year-old coach explained his reasons for departing in an interview with Sky.

"I left Samp because my personal goals did not coincide with the objectives of the club.

"The pressure was on us for most of the season, and I didn't feel that it was right to continue to devalue myself or the players.

"As for the future, unless I find something in Italy, I'd really like to look abroad.

"I have received a proposal from England, and I am considering that carefully, but I don't like English football all that much. I'd much rather coach in Spain if I had the chance."
