Roma in the hunt for Santos

Brazil’s Andre Santos, who impressed in the Confederations Cup, has been linked with AS Roma.

The 26-year-old made his first appearance for Brazil in last week's 4-3 win to Egypt, and was particularly impressive in the Selecao's 3-0 win over Italy.

Reports say clubs in Italy are interested, while he has also been linked with a move to Germany in the past.

Looking to strengthen their squad after a poor season, Roma are said to be looking at the Brazilian left-back, who worth around £5m.

According to the player's agent, Santos has plenty of admirers in Italy and the Corinthians youngster may well take advantage of this to make a switch to Europe.

"Roma are interested in him," said his agent, Mario Grimaldi.

"They asked for information about him, but they are not the only ones. The player's transfer fee is relatively low as he could be signed for just £5m," he concluded.

Press reports in Italy have said that Genoa and Juventus are also looking at the left-back as a possibility, and he seems likely to feature in the Serie A next season.
