Palermo set Simplicio price
Palermo's Fabio Simplicio could be on his way to Lazio in a deal that would also see Goran Pandev heading in the other direction.
Simplicio had a terrific season for Palermo and has since demanded an increase in wages as a result of his good performances.
Palermo's President, Maurizio Zamparini may instead decide to offload the player, with Lazio said to be keen on bringing the 29-year-old Brazilian to Rome.
Zamparini is not ready to let the midfielder go for cheap though, stating: "I am dealing with two German teams and Fenerbahce. I have told the Turks it will take £8m, but if Lazio President Claudio Lotito were to come and sit at the table we could close a deal for £5m or £7m,"
One reason for Zamparini is offering a lower price to Lazio is his desire to bring unsettled Lazio striker Goran Pandev to the Rosanero, although he is not sure the club can afford his wage demands either.
"I would like to bring Pandev to Palermo, but I think that he prefers a team superior to ours. I believe that he is one of the best talents in Serie A, but he wants £2m a season and I can't guarantee him that amount.
"If Lazio want Simplicio or if they are interested in some other players, who could be included in a deal for Pandev, we can speak," Zamparini concluded.
