Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid - La Liga

Milan keeping tabs on Huntelaar

AC Milan have earmarked Klaas-Jan Huntelaar as a potential backup if they fail to acquire Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano.

Milan have not made any key progress in their pursuit of the Brazilian after they had an initial bid for Sevilla striker Luis Fabiano rejected.

So now Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has reportedly traveled to Madrid to ask Real for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, according to tuttomercatoweb.

Earlier reports revealed that Galliani had flown to Sevilla to enquire about the Brazilian striker, but there is some distance between Milan's offer and Sevilla's valuation of the player.

Thus, Galliani will now fly to Madrid to speak with Los Blancos president Florentino Perez about the availability of Huntelaar, who scored eight times in 20 appearances in La Liga in 2008-09.

The Dutchman is apparently surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeu after the arrivals of Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema.

The report suggested that if a deal moves forward, the former Ajax star is unlikely to be present in pre-season training on Monday. There were also indications that the initial deal could be in the form of a loan, with a right to purchase at the expiry date.
