Italian giants AC Milan are reported to be interested in Barcelona defender Carles Puyol.

According to El Mundo Deportivo, the Rossoneri are considering a bid for the Spaniard, as his contract is due to expire.

With Puyol's current club Barca still keeping his contract extension on hold, transfer rumours are rife that his exit from Camp Nou could be imminent.

Recently well-heeled English side Manchester City have also stated their interest in the 31-year-old., hoping to bolster their defence in addition to their recent strike force signing, Carlos Tevez.

Carles Puyol has made almost 300 appearances and scored five goals since making it to Barcelona's senior team in 1999.
