Zanetti: Eto'o perfect for Inter
Inter Milan are preparing for life without Ibrahimovic, but Javier Zanetti sees an ideal replacement in Samuel Eto’o.
With unsettled Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic edging closer and closer to Barcelona, Inter captain Javier Zanetti has already started welcoming his apparent replacement Samuel Eto'o, stating "He'll form a perfect partnership with Diego Milito."
The 35-year-old, who has been at the club since 1995, has shrugged off suggestions that Ibrahimovic's sale could weaken the side, believing that Eto'o could lead the team to future success in both Italy and Europe.
"To replace a world class player like Ibrahimovic, another great goal scorer will arrive in the form of Eto'o,"
"Our intention is to be at the top at international level as well as in Italy. We are putting together a very strong side, on a par with the best in Europe."
"Of course it won't be easy to challenge for the Champions League, because all the contenders are gaining strength, but we are doing very well and I am confident."
According to reports, the Ibrahimovic-Eto'o exchange deal should be completed within a matter of days, with Barcelona offering playmaker Aleksandr Hleb on loan in addition to a lump sum of £40m.
