Pasqual: I'm important to Fiorentina

Fiorentina's Manuel Pasqual has extended his contract with the Viola till the conclusion of the 2011-12 season.

This renewed allegiance comes at a time when many other Italian clubs, namely Napoli, Juventus and Roma, have shown interest in the 27-year-old.

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Pasqual explains his decision: "I have decided to extend my contract with Fiorentina because this club makes me feel important.

"I declined some significant offers, purely because I wanted to stay here at all costs.

The left-back has been a staple in the Fiorentina defence, making 117 appearances for the club since he joined in 2005.

He went on to express his desire to give more to the Tuscan club.

"At first I was a little hesitant, but when [the sporting director, Pantaleo] Corvino spoke to me a few weeks ago, he gave me confidence required to make my own decision.

"He made me understand that I still have so much to offer to this team and to the city," Pasqual said.
