Italian club Sampdoria have signed Matteo Guardalben from Serie B side Treviso.

The 35-year-old goalkeeper will be rendering his services with the Blucerchiati for a 12-month stint.

In previous reports, Guardalben mentioned how he would stay with Treviso despite their drop to the Lega Pro.

In an interview with Tuttomercatoweb he said: he "would have liked to remain a player" for Sampdoria.

His contradictory move to Samp has the player now claiming it to be "a little unexpected".

Guardalben has appeared in the Serie A for Hellas Verona, Parma, Piacenza and Palermo.
