Valdano: Players told they can leave

Real Madrid director general has confirmed that the players they are looking to offload have been told of their fate.

The Spanish press has been speculating which four players will be departing to cut the squad down to 25, with Los Blancos reaching that conclusion weeks ago.

Wesley Sneijder has reportedly been told he is staying, while Rafael van der Vaart, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Arjen Robben and Alvaro Negredo look set to leave the Bernabeu.

Valdano has not confirmed if the quartet are truly the ones leaving, but he did reveal that he is looking to sell some players before the end of the transfer window.

"We are still looking for destinations for some players, but I am sure they are aware that they will not be relied upon as squad members this year," he told the club's official website.

"We aren't allowed to have more than 25 players due to bureaucratic reasons and we know who we do not want."

"We aspire to improve every day and to fight for every tournament the team participates in. Real Madrid always has that obligation. Because such a great team was built, the goals only get bigger."
