Roma have confirmed that they have allowed Alberto Aquilani to discuss personal terms with Liverpool after accepting their bid.

According to Roma's official website ASRoma.it, they have "authorized Liverpool FC to contact Alberto Aquilani to discuss the possibility of an eventual transfer of his to England".

It's likely that now the only thing separating Aquilani from signing a new contract with the Reds are the medical tests, which will take place tomorrow.

The 25-year-old is a product of Roma's youth system. England coach Fabio Capello gave Aquilani his Roma debut in May 2003 at age 18. He has since made 109 Serie A appearances for the club and scored nine goals.
