Juve out of transfer market
Juventus general director Jean-Claude Blanc has declared the Turin side have finished their transfer dealings for the summer.
"Juve's market is closed, both coming in and going out," Blanc told Il Corriere dello Sport yesterday.
"The pitch will be where the verdicts [on its success] are given. The summer party will be over in a few days, the real football begins on August 23."
Juventus begin the season with a home game against Chievo, and new signings Diego and Felipe Melo are likely to play, along with returning star Fabio Cannavaro.
Blanc claimed he was excited about the upcoming season, but predicted it will be a tough fight for any titles the side hope to acquire.
"I have seen that the confidence of the fans has grown because we have made some significant investments. However, it will be on the pitch where we find out if we will be competitive with Inter. The difference will be the amount of work and commitment.
"I don't think that the scudetto will be between two teams, but many will fight until the end and there will be difficulties every Sunday," he added.
When Blanc was asked about Danish midfielder Christian Poulsen's future, he praised the Dane's mentality.
"He has joined the squad and will show everyone that he was right, in that the negative assessment of him was wrong."
Poulsen was linked with many clubs but eventually not sold, while his midfield partner Cristiano Zanetti departed for Fiorentina last week.
"It [the sale of Zanetti] was simply a transfer to make ends meet," the director added, stressing that Juve will not sell or buy any more players.
Juve played their traditional intra-team friendly yesterday, with the first team beating Juve Primavera (youth side) 3-1, and vice-President John Elkann told the press he was very enthusiastic about Juve's chances next season.
