Borriello aims to light up Milan derby

Milan striker Marco Borriello wants to strike a early blow on Inter's title hopes by taking three points off the Nerazzuri.

Milan are officially the home team in The Derby della Madonnina in the second round of the new Serie A season.

"It's still early, but to go five points clear [of Inter] would be very important," said Borriello.

"It would be a useful advantage to then face the other games with serenity and it's a possibility that might not happen anymore in this championship. Anyway they start as favourites, but beating someone like Mourinho would be an added motivation," Borriello explained.

"Everyone talks about Inter and Juve, but we have also reinforced. Nesta and Gattuso are back. Thiago Silva and Huntelaar have arrived. We will try to give all teams a hard time."

The 27-year-old striker is expected to partner Alexandre Pato up front on Saturday.

He endured a difficult season last year, as a number of injuries hampered his progress.

"Last year I also started out with great motivations, but I had a lot of injuries and had to start all over again on July 6.

"I am still not 100 per cent fit but I am quite motivated. My team-mates help me and there are great motivations."
