Totti: Spalletti years unforgettable
Roma captain Francesco Totti has praised former manager Luciano Spalletti - claiming he is "a great man".
The capital club have been extremely busy over the past fortnight, appointing a new coach in Claudio Ranieri following the resignation of Spalletti.
The 50-year-old stepped down from the role he had occupied for four years following a dismal start to the season which saw his side lose to both Genoa and Juventus - leaving them rock bottom of Serie A.
Yet current captain and club icon Totti was keen to pay his respects to the popular coach. Speaking to Sky Sports he commented "I spent four unforgettable years with Spalletti. He is a great man.
"He made a life choice to move on from us, and it is something that we all respect. I do not know if there were any problems behind the scenes, but inside the dressing room, the feeling was always very good.
"He had the respect of the players, and he always told us that he had never coached such a good group as ours."
The captain had a couple of final comments to make in regards to his replacement, and his initial thoughts of the former Juventus boss.
He added, "Ranieri? My impressions are positive because he has charisma, desire, and has coached many teams before.
"I wish him the best of luck with us."
