Udinese vs Catania Preview
Catania coach Gianluca Atzori has called on his team to have greater self-belief as they prepare for tomorrow's match at Udinese.
The Sicilian outfit are still searching for their first points of the season following two straight defeats and will be desperate to end that run tomorrow.
"We need to forget about our defeats to Sampdoria and Parma and get it in our heads that we are a good side," said Atzori. "I have a good team with good quality players.
"Now we travel to the Stadio Friuli to meet Udinese knowing that we face a difficult side but aware that we can compete against them.
"We cannot go into the game with a losers' mentality.
"We must find the right determination in order to take a leap in quality."
With just one victory on the road last season - a 4-0 triumph at Palermo in March - Catania heavily relied on their results at home to defend their Serie A status.
Atzori knows his team must show a huge improvement when playing away from Sicily if they are to avoid relegation.
"We must get points away from home," he said. "You cannot have a drop in form when playing on the road. We have to try to find the right balance and show our quality whether we play in Catania or elsewhere."
Catania striker Giuseppe Mascara believes his team will soon deliver.
"We are a united group that has kept most of team we had last season," he said. "This is an advantage for us.
"I want to reassure our fans, who just like us are not happy with our start to the campaign, that we will come out of this situation.
"We just need to have a little bit more confidence in our quality."
Catania will be boosted ahead of tomorrow's game by the fact that Udinese are also struggling.
The Bianconeri held promoted side Parma to a 2-2 draw in their Serie A opener before losing 3-1 at Sampdoria.
Udinese defender Felipe believes his team's main problem so far has been their failure to punish their opponents.
"We have the quality," he said. "But we have wasted too many easy goalscoring chances.
"We usually create 10 to 15 chances in a game and we don't finish them off."
Udinese coach Pasquale Marino will be forced to make some changes to his starting XI with pivotal midfielders Gokhan Inler and Kwadwo Asamoah sidelined with muscular injuries.
Marino is set to play again with a 4-3-3 formation with Antonio Di Natale, Pepe and Antonio Floro Flores making up Udinese's forward line.
Floro Flores is hopeful he can finally break his Serie A duck tomorrow.
"I think it's going to be a beautiful game," he said. "Both teams are looking for their first win of the season.
"I hope this game will be the turning point for me and for Udinese."
The visitors will be without defender Pablo Alvarez and midfielder Marco Biagianti through injury.
