Juve not ‘Diego-dependent’

Juventus director of sport Alessio Secco insists that his team is not just a one-man outfit that is built around Diego.

Juve welcomed the return of the Brazilian but could only manage a draw against Bologna over the weekend.

"I think Juve have shown that they are not necessarily Diego-dependent," Secco told Sky Sport Italia.

"He is a very important player for this side, just like [Alessandro] Del Piero is and [Mohamed] Sissoko will be when he returns to action."

"It's pretty obvious that when we have the possibility to choose from more alternatives the coach's job becomes easier."

Secco has been the target of much criticism after taking over from Luciano Moggi, but has also been praised for his work in bringing in high-profile signings in the last offseason.

"I have been constantly under pressure over the past three years and I am now enjoying a little rest: there is always a reward at the end of the run," he concluded.
