Florentino Perez had once targetted one-club players Francesco Totti and Paolo Maldini.

The Real Madrid President had wanted to sign both players during his first spell at the club but found it very difficult.

When asked about his view of Italian players, Perez replied: "I have always liked Totti, but it's very difficult to get footballers like him to leave their clubs.

"I also liked Maldini a lot. It would have been nice to see him at Real, but it wasn't possible."
