Marco van Basten has not ruled out joining Milan as coach in January, according to his agent.

The former Milan legend has been linked with the coaching job at his old club after Leonardo started this season in disarray.

Milan have already lost twice in the league this season and were upset by FC Zurich 1-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday at the San Siro.

So far van Basten's agent has said his client is not looking for a new job now and has denied being contacted for any offers.

"I can only deny the rumours regarding Milan already having contacted me or Marco Van Basten personally," agent Perry Van Overeem told Infostrada Sports.

"At the moment Marco is not interested in a Coaching position, having left Ajax in June.

"He is thinking of the future and will probably only start considering a new job from January."

Van Basten had been a prime contender for the job before Leonardo was appointed in the summer as a replacement for Carlo Ancelotti.

Other candidates to replace Leonardo include youth team chief Filippo Galli, Delio Rossi and Walter Mazzarri.
