Roma vs Napoli Preview
Napoli coach Roberto Donadoni is desperate for his side to improve on their dismal away form and get a positive result on Sunday.
The Partenopei are unbeaten in their home games, but their record away from the Stadio San Paolo is dire - they have failed to pick up a point on their travels.
Not since October 26, when they beat Lazio 1-0 in Rome, have the Naples outfit come out triumphant on the road.
Sunday's 2-1 win over Siena - the Partenopei's second win of the campaign - eased the pressure on Donadoni and lifted the team to 12th in the standings, but Donadoni knows there is still plenty of work ahead.
"This is a very important result for us," said Donadoni. "But I hope no-one thinks that this outcome solves all our problems.
"I am nevertheless happy with the performance of my players because I know the pressure they are under.
"I hope that we can now try to get a positive result on the road."
Defeat at Roma tomorrow could prove costly for the former Italy tactician.
Napoli parted company with general director Pierpaolo Marino earlier this week and Donadoni fears he could be next to be shown the door.
"I am interested in continuing with the job I have in this team," said Donadoni. "I have wonderful players and we are doing everything we can.
"But we hope to continue to improve."
Donadoni has struggled to make an impact since taking charge of the Naples outfit in March, posting just four wins in 16 matches.
The Napoli boss is well aware of how difficult a test his players face in the Stadio Olimpico.
Napoli have not won at Roma since 1993 but Donadoni is confident his players are up to the challenge.
"It's going to be a tough match," he said.
"What I'm expecting is to find in my players the same determination that they have shown on the pitch in recent games.
"We have trained well all week. I see my players are well."
Roma will be eager to get back to winning ways in Serie A following two successive draws.
The Giallorossi, who beat CSKA Sofia 2-0 in midweek in the Europa League, are one point clear of Napoli in the standings.
Coach Claudio Ranieri expects an improved performance from his side on their 1-1 draw at Catania in the last round.
"My team was simply not in the game," said Ranieri. "We didn't play well.
"All we had was this great will not to allow our rivals to claim all three points and, in the end, we managed to make that happen.
"The important thing is to know where we went wrong.
"We must bounce back in Sunday's game against Napoli."
Ranieri will be hoping to welcome back the team's top scorer Francesco Totti, who sat out the midweek European match with a back injury, for tomorrow's encounter.
Montenegro forward Mirko Vucinic heads into the match looking to end a goalscoring drought which has lasted for five league appearances.
