Donadoni's future in doubt

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed Roberto Donadoni's future at the club is very much up in the air.

The Partenopei lost 2-1 at Roma yesterday to drop to 15th in the Serie A standings.

The result marked Napoli's fourth defeat of the campaign and has put further pressure on under-fire coach Donadoni.

"I adore Donadoni as a person, he is a true gentleman," said De Laurentiis. "But probably we have different ideas."

Napoli parted company with general director Pierpaolo Marino last week and Donadoni could be next to be shown the door.

The former Italy tactician has struggled to make an impact since taking charge of the Naples outfit in March, posting just four wins in 17 matches.

Moreover, Napoli have not won on the road since beating Lazio 1-0 in October

Reports in Italy have linked former Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini as the leading candidate to replace Donadoni.

"I have made my first move, and other ones will follow in the next three or four months," said De Laurentiis.

"We shall see whether among those decisions there will be a coaching change.

"I have all the time in the world.".

With just seven games played in the campaign, De Laurentiis has not given up hope that his team can get back on track.

"We still want to finish in the top six," he said. "There is still time to achieve that aim and then there is the winter transfer market also to consider."

Napoli host Bologna on October 18.
