Lampard hails the Italian influence

Frank Lampard believes he has reaped the benefit of working under a succession of Italian managers with Chelsea and England.

The Chelsea and England midfielder worked under first Claudio Ranieri and now Carlo Ancelotti at Stamford Bridge and he feels Fabio Capello's appointment as England boss has helped to bring the best out of him for his country.

Speaking ahead of the World Cup qualifying double header against Ukraine and Belarus, Lampard told thefa.com: "The Italian managers are very disciplined. They work very hard on the training field but they are all different personalities with different styles.

"The way they carry themselves, and the way they go day-to-day with the players, they all have the same theme, which is working hard, being organised and being winners.

"I've been lucky enough to work with some of the best, and they've improved me and I've enjoyed playing under them."

Lampard has quickly adapted to the style of Ancelotti after he took over from Guus Hiddink at Stamford Bridge during the summer.

He said: "Carlo has been fantastic on and off the pitch. He's a very good man. We've all enjoyed and reacted to his management style off the pitch.

"And, on the pitch, tactically, on the training ground and the way he is with us on match days, I think has been proven by the results. Everyone is very happy with him."
