Napoli vs Bologna Preview

Walter Mazzarri will be aiming to make a winning start as manager of Napoli when his side play rivals Bologna.

Mazzarri took over the reins from the sacked Roberto Donadoni last week, with Napoli lying 15th in the Serie A standings and with just four wins in their last 17 matches.

The new manager has an immediate selection dilemma - whether to include Ezequiel Lavezzi and Jesus Datolo.

The pair may not figure for the home side after incurring the wrath of club president Aurelio de Laurentiis while on international duty with Argentina in midweek.

De Laurentiis was unimpressed with the pair after they lost their passports and said: "First we had to deal with Datolo, now Lavezzi. We are tired of having to deal with careless Argentinians and their scant professionalism.

"To Datolo, I'd say that the oversight was the fault of the Argentinian FA. For Lavezzi, it wasn't like this.

"He was in the stands and should have been only interested in getting back as soon as possible to get to know his new trainer."

It is not the first time De Laurentiis has been found wanting for patience with his club's South American players.

Last season the president told them to spend less time in Napoli's nightclubs and more time on the training ground.

His arguments with Lavezzi almost meant the player was sold in the summer, although he stayed at the San Paolo and has figured in each one of their matches this season, scoring twice.

However, Napoli's hopes of picking up only a third win of the campaign would appear brighter with the two Argentinians in their starting line-up.

Striker Fabio Quagliarella will also be aiming to impress again, after setting up Alberto Gilardino twice in the closing stages of Italy's 3-2 victory over Cyprus in Parma in midweek.

Despite registering just one win this season, Bologna should not be taken lightly.

The visitors sit just a point and a place behind Napoli, despite losing one match fewer than their opponents.

They picked up a point in their last away match against Juventus and also restricted AC Milan to a single goal when the teams met.

Marcelo Zalayeta will be aiming to make an impression on both managers. The 30-year-old Uruguay striker is on loan with Bologna from Napoli - and has so far failed to hit the target for the Felsinei.

However, Marco di Vaio looks Bologna's best bet for goals.

After netting 24 last season to enable his team to see off the threat of relegation, the 33-year-old had a slow start to the current campaign because of an Achilles problem.

However, he has found the net in two of his last three appearances.
