Catania value Vargas at £30m

Catania believe Fiorentina's left-wingback Juan Manuel Vargas is now worth about £30million.

The Peruvian had left Catania to join Fiorentina for £7m move in 2008.

Although Vargas struggled to fit in at Florence, he has since improved in leaps and bounds, according to football-italia.net.

“I don't know exactly how much Fiorentina could ask for now, but we weren't wrong about him,” noted Lo Monaco.

“The price tag could easily rise to £30m because there are no left-wingers like him on the market.

“He is a world-class champion. We discovered him when he was playing in Argentina at Colon and even then people were talking about him a lot.

“Even when he was struggling I always said he was an important player who had massive room for improvement.

“I wouldn't be surprised to see Real Madrid making a move for him. Fiorentina are the right team for him though,” insists Lo Monaco.

“The Viola will be able to secure him plenty of success, although I realise how difficult it is to say no to the best clubs in the world…”
