Livorno vs Atalanta Preview
Livorno will be hoping to build on their 1-0 win at Roma when they host in-form Atalanta at the Armando Picchi stadium.
The Amaranto go into the Serie A encounter inspired by their triumph in Rome last weekend, provided by Francesco Tavano's goal.
The breakthrough handed the promoted outfit their first victory of the campaign and lifted them off the bottom of the table.
Livorno coach Serse Cosmi had reason to be delighted, for Sunday's game was his first in charge of the Leghorn-based club.
The win was all the more rewarding considering Livorno had to play with 10 men for the last 25 minutes following the sending-off of goalkeeper Alfonso De Lucia, who picked up two yellow cards in the space of a minute.
"I didn't expect to get a triumph at Roma," admitted Cosmi, who replaced sacked Gennaro Ruotolo last week.
"I only had three days to work with my team but the players were fired up. We have achieved something difficult but not impossible.
"If I have learned something in my career is that in football, anything can happen. We have succeeded despite having to overcome adversity.
"Besides Tavano's goal and the sending-off of De Lucia, we have been lucky, something which my predecessor didn't have."
Cosmi, whose side are now only one point from safety, will be hoping his team can show the same determination when they take on improving Atalanta.
"Continuity is something this team has lacked in the past," added Cosmi. "Hopefully, we can build on the win at Roma by claiming our first win at home tomorrow."
Livorno still need to show a big improvement in attack - they have scored just three goals this season, the worst record in Serie A.
A victory would be a further boost in confidence for Livorno ahead of this weekend's visit of leaders Inter Milan.
Atalanta make the journey to Tuscany looking to make it three wins in a row.
The Bergamaschi appear to have left their troubles behind them since losing their first four games of the campaign.
Antonio Conte's men beat Parma 3-1 on Sunday to claim their first win at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri D'Italia this season.
The result followed their 3-1 triumph at Udinese and extended the Bergamaschi's unbeaten run to five games, maintaining their three-point advantage over Livorno.
"We are happy," said Conte. "Things are going well for us. My lads are responding well and this is a good sign for the future."
Conte will be hoping former Lecce striker Simone Tiribocchi can continue his sizzling form in front of goal, having found the opposing net in all of their last four games.
However, the visitors will have to overcome the absence of injured duo Diego De Ascentis and Robert Acquafresca.
Livorno will without injured defender Romano Perticone, while Francesco Benussi will replace De Lucia in goal.
