Parma 2-0 Bari
Valeri Bojinov and Alberto Paloschi scored second-half goals as Parma claimed a fifth win of the season to move to fourth place.
On-loan Manchester City striker Bojinov struck the first four minutes after coming off the substitutes' bench and Paloschi added a second after 66 minutes for the hosts at the Ennio Tardini stadium.
Substitute Sergio Almiron hit the post late on for Bari, who slipped to ninth after a second loss of the season as Parma bounced back from their 3-1 defeat at Atalanta, which marked their third loss of the campaign.
Parma were on the attack from the start as they sought a fourth home win from five games this season.
Daniele Galloppa's corner kick caused difficulties in the visitors' defence, with Stefano Morrone flicking the ball on, but none of his team-mates could apply the scoring touch.
Davide Lanzafame had an opportunity after 11 minutes, shooting wide from the edge of the Bari box, with Galloppa clear in the centre of the penalty area.
Pablo Hernan Dellafiore's low cross two minutes later troubled the visiting defence once more, but Paloschi and Lanzafame could not get on the end of it.
Lanzafame failed to find the target again after Morrone's headed pass, missing from 12 yards out.
Again Lanzafame shot wide with the goal at his mercy when put through by Stefano Zaccardo.
Bari had a strong chance to score beyond Antonio Mirante but the Parma goalkeeper made a strong save from Vitaly Kutuzov.
Galloppa provided a cross for Christian Zaccardo with four minutes remaining in the half, but he missed a straightforward header in the centre of the area.
Parma resumed the second half the way they had finished the first, and Paloschi had an opportunity after Andrea Ranocchia mis-hit his backpass.
However, Paloschi was denied as Bari goalkeeper saved low to his right.
The breakthrough finally came four minutes after Bojinov had come off the bench.
The Bulgaria international, who had been expected to start with Nicola Amoruso rested, drilled a shot from the edge of the penalty box into the top-right corner.
Eight minutes later Parma scored again, when Peloschi finally got on the scoresheet.
The striker received the ball in the penalty area and beat Gillet with a delightful lob.
Riccardo Meggiorini had a right-foot shot from 25 yards saved at the other end by Mirante as Bari looked for an immediate reply.
Substitute Paulo Vito Barreto did find the net for the visitors, but his strike was ruled out for offside.
Parma responded and Gillet saved with his feet after another defensive lapse from Andrea Masiello nearly allowed Paloschi in.
Luca Antonelli shot wide from 20 yards before Almiron hit the post at the other end as Parma kept a clean sheet.
The result will give Parma confidence ahead of Saturday's game at the San Siro against AC Milan.
