Catania 1-2 Chievo
Chievo responded to back-to-back defeats with victory over struggling Catania in the Serie A.
Michele Marcolini made up for missing an earlier penalty with the winner 20 minutes from time.
Chievo led through Andrea Mantovani just after the half-hour mark, but after Marcolini's spot-kick miss they let Catania back in it when Giuseppe Mascara scored from the spot three minutes before the break.
Catania's misery was completed by the late dismissal of Takayuki Morimoto.
The hosts had the first sight on goal, but Mascara fired wide from a tight angle.
But it was Chievo who were creating the better chances, most notably when Siqieira Luciano's fine pass picked out Simone Bentivoglio.
He neatly controlled the ball with his head before rifling a shot narrowly wide from close range.
They eventually took the lead in the 32nd minute as the Catania defence slept.
Marcolini whipped in a corner and Mantovani rose highest for an easy finish.
Just three minutes later, the visitors should have doubled their lead when Nicolas Spolli hauled down Sergio Pellissier inside the area as he closed in on goal.
Marcolini stepped up to take the spot-kick but he smashed his shot against the upright to give Catania another life.
They took it in the 42nd minute when gifted a penalty of their own by a clumsy challenge on Adrian Ricchiuti by Mario Yepes.
Mascara made no mistake from the spot to level the scores.
However, the scoreline was papering over the cracks for a Catania side who were second best in the game, and Chievo came out for the second half with renewed determination to make their superiority count.
Simone Bentivoglio saw his shot from a tight angle pick up a slight deflection to go out for a corner, and then moments later the visitors had a goal scrubbed out for offside when Luciano met Marcolini's cross to head the ball beyond Mariano Andujar.
The second goal was coming and it arrived in the 70th minute with Luciano turning provider, whipping in a dangerous cross from the right.
Andujar came off his line to keep the ball away from Pablo Granoche, but it instead fell for Marcolini to send a volley into the top right hand corner of the net.
Catania had not been heard from as an attacking force in the second half, but they finally came forward with substitute Cristian Llama testing Stefano Sorrentino from distance.
The goalkeeper proved equal to it, however, and pushed the ball clear for a corner.
Any hopes of a Catania recovery were ended soon after however, when Morimoto hacked down Manuel Iori and deservedly received his marching orders.
