Zenga: We completely lost it
Walter Zenga was shocked by how Palermo conceded "three very unusual goals" in the 5-3 defeat to Inter Milan.
According to football-italia.net, Zenga was confident of making it into half-time with a two-goal deficit but did not expect his team to collapse in this manner by conceding two more goals five minutes before half-time.
"Unfortunately at the 40th minute of the first half I had written 'we're in this game' and then in those minutes lost three very unusual goals," said Zenga.
"We completely lost it and these things happen when faced by a squad of the calibre of Inter."
But Zenga was encouraged by the way his players responded by making a mini-comeback with three goals without reply until Diego Milito made the game safe for Inter in the 84th minute.
"However, my players did brilliantly to fight their way back into the match with hunger, determination and at one point truly believed they could get a result here. We should begin again from that attitude."
"Our mentality is not about defending. We attack, play football and try to challenge everyone. After the reaction everyone has great respect for this team and the players have belief in themselves."
