Chievo vs Udinese Preview
Udinese travel to Verona for Sunday's clash against Chievo looking to claim their first victory on the road this season.
Six months have passed since the north-east club last celebrated a triumph on their travels.
With just one point from four games away from home, the Bianconeri have had to rely on their results at the Stadio Friuli to remain clear of the relegation zone.
Wednesday's 2-1 triumph over Roma allowed Udinese to return to winning ways after three consecutive defeats and marked their fourth triumph of the season.
The outcome allowed Pasquale Marino's side to climb to 11th in the standings, two points behind sixth-place Genoa and five clear of the drop zone.
"This result gives us a bit of oxygen and allows us to look to the future with optimism," said Marino.
"We need to get continuity in our results.
"My players gave a solid performance against Roma and this win will no doubt give the team a boost in confidence for our next game.
"We have struggled to get results away from home and we need to show more determination on our travels."
With games against Fiorentina and Juventus just round the corner, the Bianconeri will want to make the most of this weekend's game.
Udinese will be without Serbian midfielder Dusan Basta, who serves a one-match ban.
With Christian Obodo, Damiano Ferronetti, Mauricio Isla and Maurizio Domizzi still sidelined by injury, Marino is unlikely to make many changes from the last round.
That will see Simone Pepe and Alexis Sanchez start alongside captain Antonio Di Natale up front.
Chievo responded to back-to-back defeats with a 2-1 victory over Catania on Wednesday.
The result lifted the Flying Donkeys to 10th in the standings, level on 14 points with Udinese.
"We merited this win," said Chievo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino.
"No-one should be surprised by our form on our travels this season. We play better when we feel threatened."
Unlike Udinese, Chievo have looked solid on the road this season, claiming 10 of their 14 points away from Verona.
However, Domenico Di Carlo's side have struggled to make their mark at the Marc Antonio Bentegodi stadium.
Just one win and three defeats in five home games is not exactly what Chievo anticipated.
"We are not playing as well as we would like to at home," said Sorrentino. "We really want to give our fans some joy and we hope to do so tomorrow.
"We have to try to show the same fighting spirit and determination that we display around Italy when we play in Verona.
"If we want to avoid the drop we will also have to start getting points at home and the sooner we start doing that the better."
The good news for the hosts is that striker Erjon Bogdani has recovered from a muscular injury which saw him miss Wednesday's game and will partner Sergio Pellissier up front.
Moreover, Giampiero Pinzi returns from suspension but Fabio Moro and Luca Rigoni are still sidelined through injury.
