Stevan Jovetic has played down the media reports comparing the Fiorentina striker to Roberto Baggio and Lionel Messi.

"Of course, I like to hear that, but I don't know," Jovetic told UEFA.com.

"I'm Stevan Jovetic and still need to improve. I still need to do a lot to be as good as them."

Jovetic arrived in Florence in the offseason of 2008, despite interest from La Liga juggernaut Real Madrid.

"I always used to watch Italian football," he mused. "When I was little I dreamt of playing in a league like the Italian one.

"That's why I decided to come here. I knew Fiorentina were a big club, one of the biggest in Italy."

Jovetic scored twice against Liverpool in the Champions League game in September and he has said that the game is one of the highlights of his career so far.

"That was the greatest night of my life," he enthused. "Firstly because it was the Champions League and secondly because the opponents were Liverpool.

"Thirdly because we won and then also because I scored two goals."
