Del Neri: Samp is not just Cassano
Luigi Del Neri is optimistic about Sampdoria getting a result against Cagliati on Sunday despite his team’s inconsistencies.
Samp were on fire early in the season but have since cooled off a little, failing to register maximum points against Bari and Parma. The Blucerchiati were also the victims of a 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Juventus in the previous round of Serie A fixtures last week.
However, Del Neri says that the results will come if 'Doria play good football.
"It will be a game like all the others," he explained to Il Corriere dello Sport.
"We did well against Bologna, we lost against Juventus and then we drew with Bari. I'd call that a regular period.
"Sampdoria don't have to win the league but play good football. We aren't delighted or depressed."
Del Neri is also trying to scale back talk about star striker Antonio Cassano, as he believes that his team have other potent weapons on board.
"I want to talk about the team, Sampdoria is not just Cassano, even if he is an important player - just like Inter aren't just [Samuel] Eto'o," he concluded.
