In-demand Fiorentina defender Juan Manuel Vargas has dismissed rumours linking him to Real Madrid.

Real are looking for defensive reinforcements and the lack of quality cover for current left-back Marcelo meant Vargas is to of the shortlist in January.

However, Vargas said: "Real Madrid? In Florence they all love me, there is great affection and esteem. My great club is Fiorentina, I do not want to think about the future, even when I hear of other clubs interested in me.

"I'm happy and my thoughts are only for the good of the team I am wearing the shirt of."
