Andrea Mantovani’s agent, Marcello Bonetto, claims that Fiorentina are interested in bringing in the defender in the January transfer window.

Mantovani was linked with a move to La Viola in the offseason, but the Florence-based club could not pull off a deal with Chievo.

"During the past summer, there were discussions about his move," Bonetto told Violanews.com.

"The player has lots of talent, and is demonstrating this during the campaign. But remember, Andrea has a contract with Chievo, and it will be the club that will ultimately decide his future.

"Has there been a meeting between Fiorentina and Chievo? From what  I know, there have been preliminary discussions between [sporting director Giovanni] Sartori and [Fiorentina director Pantaleo] Corvino.

"They are two hard-heads, and it will not be easy to conclude the affairs.

"For January, there won't be anything new to report on, as I have not heard from Corvino personally," Bonetto concluded.
