Gasperini: Ferrara is a ‘great’ coach

Gian Piero Gasperini has revealed that his comments about Juventus coach Ciro Ferrara were taken out of context.

Gasperini had earlier claimed that Ferrara lacked the experience to coach the Bianconeri. His comments were not well-received by the Serie A fraternity.

"All I said is that when important teams are given to people with little experience, the coach's role loses credibility and a little prestige," Gasperini told Radio Milan Inter.

"This whole thing was then spun into a clash with Ferrara and Leonardo, but that was not the case. Anyway, Milan and Juventus have great coaches."

The Genoa coach, who was reported to be a target of Juve's last term, also looked back at the offseason, and regretted losing the opportunity to sign Ricardo Quaresma from Inter Milan. The winger declined the chance to join the Grifoni, a foolish decision in Gasperini's eyes.

"It would have been a good move for all involved: Inter, Genoa and the player himself," added the Italian.

"He probably would have found the right atmosphere to relaunch his career here at Genoa."
