Napoli 0-0 Lazio
Napoli's unbeaten run at the Stadio San Paolo continued but they were unable to break down Lazio, sharing the spoils with the Romans.
The visitors had the better of the first half, dominating the midfield and creating the better chances with the hosts limited to counter-attacks.
The Partenopei picked up the pace after the break and were the better team for the second 45 minutes, however, meaning a draw was a fair result.
Napoli are still undefeated under boss Walter Mazzarri and move up a place to ninth in the standings, five points adrift of a Champions League spot, while troubled Lazio lie 15th.
The first chance of the match fell to Napoli in the eighth minute. Michele Pazienza provided the through-ball for Christian Maggio, who burst through the visiting defence and found himself one on one with Fernando Muslera, but the goalkeeper came out forcefully and cleared the ball.
Mauro Zarate almost opened the scoring at the other end three minutes later but saw his 35-yard blast swerve just to the right of Morgan De Sanctis' goal.
De Sanctis was called upon in the 18th minute, saving messily from Pasquale Foggia's right-wing cross. Stefano Mauri was on hand to pounce and appeared to have a straightforward tap-in but the Napoli defence managed to avert the danger.
The visitors appealed for a penalty on the half-hour mark when Zarate's 30-yard shot from a central position appeared to hit the elbow of Leandro Rinaudo, but the referee waved play on.
The lively Zarate continued to take the battle to the hosts and once again found himself within shooting range on the edge of the area four minutes before the break, but Hugo Campagnaro saved the day.
Napoli stepped up their game after the interval and could have taken the lead two minutes in.
Ezequiel Lavezzi swung in a corner from the left which looked perfect for Maggio to convert but he failed to connect and allowed Aleksandar Kolarov to clear.
Lavezzi then got past Emilson Cribari and entered the Lazio area, only to be tackled by Stefan Radu.
Napoli were dominating by now and pushing Lazio onto the back foot.
A fine ball into the area from Marek Hamsik in the 65th minute found Lavezzi, but he could not get his shot away thanks to the attentions of substitute Stephan Lichtsteiner.
Mauri fed a brilliant ball through to Julio Cruz in the 86th minute but it had just enough weight on to give De Sanctis the chance to come out and clear at Cruz's feet.
That proved to be the last chance of note in the game as both sides had to settle for a point.
