Simone Perotta has praised Francesco Totti after the AS Roma captain grabbed an impressive hat-trick in a 3-1 win over Bari.

The 33-year-old playmaker was making his comeback last weekend from a knee operation.

"Totti is extraordinary," Perrotta told the Roma Channel.

"We are all satisfied with this victory. We did well in the first half, but not so much in the second.

"However, we collected three crucial points and started over on the right foot."

Perotta also talked about his chances of sealing a berth in the Italy squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

"I don't know if I deserve the national team or not," he mused.

"It's up to [coach Marcello] Lippi. After all, at this same stage I was not even being considered as a potential recruit four years ago."
