Vieira: I will stay and fight at Inter

Patrick Vieira believes he can still force his way into France's 2010 World Cup squad whilst playing for Inter Milan.

The World Cup winner was noticeable by his absence for France's play-off tie against Ireland last week - with many observers believing it signalled an end to his hopes of making the squad for next year's tournament in South Africa.

Former coach Arsene Wenger even advised him to leave the Nerazzurri in order to further his international ambitions, but Vieira doesn't seem to have any intention of leaving coach Jose Mourinho's team.

"I don't think I need to leave Inter," he said to Canal Plus.

"I will stay here and play for my chances, giving my best until June."

Vieira has appeared in three consecutive World Cups for France, helping the side to glory in 1998 and the runners-up spot in 2006.

The 33-year-old has been at Inter since the summer of 2006 but has failed to hit the heights he enjoyed at Arsenal, and has been in and out of the team under the guidance of Mourinho.
