Ranieri ponders striking options

Roma boss Claudio Ranieri is considering his options following the success of his three pronged attack.

Ranieri tested the tactic in the 3-1 victory over Bari last week - a game that saw returning skipper Francesco Totti notch a hat-trick as he was supported by Mirko Vucinic and Jeremy Menez.

"The trident can be used again, but that means both having fun and carrying the cross," commented Ranieri.

"Francesco always gives everything he's got and in fact that can be a fault, as he plays even when not 100 per cent fit.

"We are looking for another centre-forward on the January market to help him out. We're not getting one just to make the fans happy, but to give the team a helping hand.

"We have someone like Menez, who is a diamond in the rough and needs to be slowly honed. There will be times in which I'll put him on the bench. He'll get angry, but it's part of a tactician's work."

Ranieri has a chance to unleash the same formation this Sunday when Roma travel to face Atalanta.
