Ferrara: Defeat really "burns"
Juventus coach Ciro Ferrara has several days to mull over defeats to Bordeaux and Cagliari that could prove costly for the Bianconeri.
Following their midweek Champions League 2-0 setback in France, Juve became the latest victims of in-form Cagliari today.
The 2-0 loss in Sardinia saw Ferrara´s team drop eight points behind league leaders Inter Milan, who won 1-0 over Fiorentina with Juve set to host Inter next weekend.
"This defeat burns," Ferrara said after today´s game. "Considering what we did, a draw would have been a fair result.
"As it is, we go back home with a defeat that really burns.
"I am always the first to admit if we deserve to lose a game but today we didn´t merit this result.
"After the loss at Bordeaux, I was angry with my players.
"Today I am angry with the result but not with my team as my players did everything to level or win this game."
Nene put Cagliari in front on the half-hour mark before Alessandro Matri put the game beyond Juve´s reach with one minute to play.
"We were not threatened in the opening half," Ferrara said."We only went down because of a great goal scored by Nene.
"In the second half, Cagliari hardly ever came out of their area.
"We had a hatful of chances but (Cagliari goalkeeper Federico) Marchetti made great saves."
Cagliari, meanwhile, have risen to seventh in the standings after claiming five wins in their last six games.
"I am delighted to be coaching this team," said Cagliari coach Massimiliano Allegri. "These players have a great fighting spirit and a will to do well.
"We played a great game against a very good team.
"We made the most of our chances and we defended the result."
