Napoli v Bari

Napoli v Bari

Napoli will be bolstered by the return of Ezequiel Lavezzi for tomorrow's Serie A match against Bari.

The Argentina forward has recovered from a thigh injury that saw him miss last weekend's 1-1 draw at Parma.

Lavezzi is set to partner Marek Hamsik and Fabio Quagliarella in Napoli's attacking line tomorrow.

The hosts will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to eight games but will be put to the test by a Bari side that have been, alongside Parma, one of the surprise packages in Serie A this season.

Bari, who gained promotion to the top flight in the summer, lie eighth in the standings, one point clear of Napoli.

Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri is well aware his team will be made to work but expects his side to pick up where they left off at Parma.

"We dominated the game against Parma in what is a very difficult stadium and against a team that has been one of the revelations of the campaign," he said.

"My team is improving and is gradually gaining an identity.

"Against Parma we took a step forward and I hope the team can display an improvement on Sunday against another difficult rival like Bari.

"I think Napoli has already taken a leap in quality."

Mazzarri is unconcerned by his team's current 11th place and believes his side will soon climb up in the standings.

"I'm not interested in our position for the time being," he said.

"Our only aim right now is to create a competitive team that imposes its personality on the pitch."

Bari have done just that.

So far this season, Giampiero Ventura's most reliable department has been his defence, and the boss will again demand a steadfast performance from his backline.

However, Bari's consistency at the back has been somewhat offset by a lack of potency in the final third of the pitch on their travels.

Victories on the road have been hard to come by and, with just one win and five goals scored, it is not hard to pinpoint the reasons for their lacklustre form away from home.

Bari claimed their fifth triumph of the campaign in a 2-1 win over Siena in the last round but have not tasted success on their travels since October 18 when they beat Chievo in Verona.

"We have done very well at home but our biggest challenge is to be able to play in the same manner when we play on the road," said Bari midfielder Massimo Donati.

"We don't need to feel frightened when playing away from home.

"We are a team that is still developing and we need to keep on working hard."

Bari will be missing striker Vitalj Kutuzov and defenders Andrea Massiello and Andrea Ranocchia, all sidelined through injury.

The hosts will be without defenders Salvatore Aronica and Matteo Contini, both suspended for tomorrow's encounter.
