Bologna vs Udinese Preview
Udinese captain Antonio Di Natale will be looking to add to his impressive goalscoring tally when his team travel to Bologna.
Di Natale is currently the top scorer in Italy's top flight with 10 goals after one of his most productive seasons yet.
The Italy striker has rediscovered his top form having recovered from a serious left knee injury earlier this year.
Di Natale's goals have proved key for the Friuli outfit to remain clear of the drop zone.
He scored in last weekend's 2-0 win over Livorno that allowed Udinese to bounce back from narrow defeats to Fiorentina and Juventus.
The result lifted Udinese to 12th in the standings, five points behind Genoa, who hold the last European qualifying spot.
"We have proved the quality of this side," said Di Natale. "We are capable of bouncing back in style and that will gives us a lot of confidence in our campaign."
The Bianconeri have a lot of room for improvement, however, if they are to finish in the top six this campaign.
Pasquale Marino's side have taken 16 of their 18 points at the Friuli stadium but their last victory on the road dates back to May, a 3-1 win at Lazio.
Lack of goalscoring has been the Bianconeri's main problem on their travels, with a meagre three goals struck so far.
"It is important for us to improve on our performances away from home," said Udinese midfielder Maurizio Isla. "We have no fear of playing on the road and we are going to Bologna to get a win.
"We are the same group as last year and seeing as we have proved that we can play good football, now our aim is to play at the same level at home and away."
Rivals Bologna have suffered a blow ahead of Sunday's match against Udinese with news that pivotal midfielder Nicola Mingazzini will be sidelined for a month with a groin injury.
To add to Franco Colomba's woes, Ghana midfielder Stephen Appiah suffered a thigh injury in midweek and will be unable to make his debut with Bologna on Sunday.
The only consolation for the hosts is that midfield trio Luigi Lavecchia, Massimo Mutarelli and Francesco Valiani are all available having recovered from their respective injuries.
The Rossoblu will be under pressure to take at least a point as last weekend's goalless tie at Lazio left them 16th in the standings, one point clear of the drop zone.
Moreover, with just three points claimed on their travels this season, Colomba's side will be desperate to make their most of their games at the Renato Dall'Ara Stadium.
The hosts will be hoping striker Marco Di Vaio can rediscover his goalscoring form having struck just three times this season.
Di Vaio greatly contributed to Bologna defending their top-flight status last term with 24 goals to finish as the second top scorer in Serie A behind former Inter Milan striker Ztalan Ibrahimovic.
