Roma legend Aldair thinks Juan will be the heir apparent to the defensive throne he once held at the capital club.

Juan has firmly established himself as a Roma regular and has attracted positive comparisons with the former Roma star.

The Brazilian then claimed that Juan and him share similar beginnings. Aldair played for Roma from 1990 until 2003 and is regarded as a true great at the club.

"I am really happy for Juan because he is doing very well," said Aldair.

"He deserves it after all the problems he had in the past and those that he has overcome.

"To be honest, we are alike. We came out from the same school, both of us grew up at Flamenco and this clearly had an impact on the way we play."

Roma continued their ascent up the Serie A table after a hard-fought win at Fiorentina last weekend. Aldair thought the three points earned were vital.

"The Viola played better creating lots of chances but Roma did well to resist their attacks.

"Winning three points in that way is really important. It proves that Roma have become solid and clinical. Only big teams play that way."
